1985 dental hygiene graduate recognized by dental school alumni association

Dr. Kerri Simpson hands a distinguished alumnus award to Dr. Michelle Klenk.Michele G. Klenk, RDH, EdD, received a distinguished alumus award from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry alumni association. She was one of five recognized at alumni weekend March, 25, 2022. 

Michelle Klenk earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1985 from WVU, a Master’s Degree in Dental Auxiliary Education in 1987 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Doctorate in Education Administration in 1995 from WVU. She is a consultant and continuing education presenter in the dental field and specializes in the areas of OSHA/Infection control, Substance Abuse, Medical Emergencies and Medically Compromised patients. Dr. Klenk is a current member and past president of the West Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association, member and past section chair of the American Dental Education Association, and member of the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP).

Michelle G. Klenk served as Department Chairperson of the BridgeValley Community and Technical College Dental Hygiene Program for a total of 24 years. She received a Governor’s appointment and completed 3 years of service on the West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners. Michelle continues to serve as a dental hygiene member and examiner of regional board organizations Commission on Dental Competency Assessment/Western Regional Examining Board (formerly NERB/WREB) and Southern Regional Testing Agency. Additionally, she serves as the District XI representative to the American Board of Dental Examiners. Her American Dental Association appointments include active service on the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination Test Construction Committee and as a site visitor and team chair for the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
