Dedication to students and faculty earns Martha Sturms an alumni award

Martha has worked for the WVU School of Dentistry since 1974.

An alumni achievement award has been given to Martha Sturms, Senior Administrative Assistant for the Dean.

The WVU School of Dentistry Alumni Association recognized Martha for her extraordinary skills and dedication to the faculty and students of the school.

Martha began a career at the School of Dentistry in 1974.

For seven years, she worked in what was the Department of Operative Dentistry.

While working at the School, she met and married her husband Chuck Sturms.

She took a hiatus from the School in 1981 after her son Steven was born.

Martha came back to serve here in the school in 1994 ultimately becoming the senior administrative assistant to the dean. She has served through six deans.

In 1999, Martha received the West Virginia University School of Dentistry Employee of the Year Award.

In 2018, West Virginia University created the Mountaineer Values Coin program in order to recognize faculty and staff across our University who help bring our mission to life through their daily work. Martha was the recipient of the coin representing Service.
