Dental school alumnus published and recognized by consultant group for oral health product

Dr. Robert Martino, a Clarksburg native and 1990 graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry, closes 2021 with two outstanding achievements.

In November, Dental Economics, a national oral health industry magazine, invited Martino to share a science and technology article on managing dental implants and the onset of peri-implant disease.

“With the growing popularity of implants, it is up to us to find better ways to keep peri-implantitis at bay. Since we know that implants mostly fail due to poor home care, we must provide patients with the proper tools. Creating a daily regimen that includes a rinse with therapeutic benefit is our best defense against the number on cause of implant failure,” Martino concluded.

This month, the Cellerant Consulting Group, a firm used by dental companies for strategic planning, named OraCare best in class. Martino developed OraCare. The professional dental rinse that is sold as an alternative to chlorhexidiene for everyday care, bad breath, tissue management and dry mouth.

OraCare was the only dental rinse selected as an award winner by a panel of industry leaders and educators. This was the inaugural year for the consulting group’s awards program. Dr. Martino’s product was the only rinse among 21 award winners.

Dr. Martino owns and operates seven dental practices in West Virginia and is the CEO of Milmar Management Company.

His charitable acts include the creation of OraCare Cares to donate the mount rinse to thousands of cancer patients across the country to help with the oral side effects of treatment.
