School of Dentistry seeking participants for survey on tobacco and vape use

The WVU School of Dentistry is seeking students to participate in a research project to discover the prevalence of tobacco product use, including e-cigarettes, among the WVU student population.

Participants will be asked to complete an anonymous survey that is approximately five minutes and includes demographic information, a brief dental history and tobacco product usage. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older and a current WVU student to participate.

Participation in the project is voluntary and individuals may skip any question they do not wish to answer and may discontinue at any time. Responses will be kept as confidential as legally possible. Individuals will not be asked any questions that could lead back to their identity as a participant. All data will be reported in the aggregate.

This project is being conducted by Kyle Rideout, Chance Brown, Peyton Faulkner and Noah Auman under the supervision of Melissa Gaydos, director of the Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program.

The West Virginia University Institutional Review Board’s review of this research project is on file with the WVU Office of Human Research Protections.

Review the official informed consent letter for further information.

By completing the online survey, individuals agree that they have read and understand what the project is about and agree to participate.
