BeWell offers new services for Black-identified students

New clinician joins the team, virtual support group added

To better meet the needs of the Black-identified students they serve, BeWell — which offers behavioral wellness services at Health Sciences — has welcomed a Black clinician to the team and the Carruth Center has added a virtual drop-in support group.

John Spraggins, who retired from West Virginia University a few years ago, has agreed to join the team at BeWell. His passion about providing care to students prompted him to lend his services to Health Sciences students who wish to meet with a Black clinician. When scheduling an appointment with BeWell, simply indicate the provider with whom you would like to speak.

A virtual drop-in support group, "What's Good?!," has been developed by Ife Sinclair, a psychology intern, specifically for Black-identified students to chat with Black clinicians at the Carruth Center. Beginning Feb. 19 at noon, the group will meet weekly, Interested attendees can register once, then drop in as little or as often as they would like throughout the semester.
