As the end of the fall semester approaches, which can be a stressful time, becoming overwhelmed can take a toll on your mental and physical health.
Below are some upcoming opportunities for the Health Sciences community to connect during this busy season and to take time to relax and recharge with fellow students, faculty and staff.
Wednesday, Nov. 29
- Music at the Pylons: Enjoy the music of this informal concert tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Pylons Commons as you walk to class or relax between appointments. The WVU Chamber Singers will perform at 2 p.m. followed by the WVU Mountaineer Singers at 2:45 p.m. Presented by Operation Blue Sky.
- Play Cards: Health Sciences students are invited to play cards and share card tricks to de-stress on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Pylons Commons. Presented by BeWell.
Week of Dec. 4
- Movies in Okey: Relax before finals by watching a free holiday movie, "Elf," on Monday, Dec. 4. Enjoy cookie decorating at 3 p.m. in Pylons Commons before the movie begins at 4 p.m. in Okey Patteson Auditorium. Presented by Operation Blue Sky.
- chillFEST: Join WELLWVU, the Carruth Center, Campus Recreation, AdventureWV and more for chillFEST on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 4-7 p.m. at the Student Rec Center. Students can enjoy free chair massages, therapy dogs, painting, snacks and more.

As students leave campus after final exams, BeWell has provided book recommendations for winter break. RESET: Make the Most of Your Stress by Kristen Lee provides an informative, holistic approach to well-being with many opportunities to develop a plan that is unique to you. Face Your Fears by David Tolin is an easy-to-read, step-by-step guide that is helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, OCD and panic.
Remember, there are a variety of resources across campus and online, from meditation and recreation to counseling and tutoring, to support your well-being.
