Wheeler-Johnson elected as district director of Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association

Jennifer Wheeler-Johnson, MS, ATC, assistant professor and director of clinical education for the Athletic Training program at the WVU School of Medicine, has been elected as the district director of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA).

The Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association (MAATA), also known as NATA District 3, covers the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. It is one of the eleven districts of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the profession.

“I am incredibly excited and honored to be elected as District 3 Director for the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association,” Wheeler-Johnson said. “It’s especially meaningful to be the first representative from West Virginia. I can’t wait to get started and serve our amazing athletic training community by advocating for and supporting our profession.”

As the MAATA district director, Wheeler-Johnson will represent MAATA on the NATA Board of Directors.

She will also sit on the MAATA executive council, which is responsible for the day-to-day operations and governance of the organization, and the district council, which is responsible for long-term planning and strategic initiatives.
