WVU Dentistry leader elected president of Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation

West Virginia University School of Dentistry faculty member Samuel Dorn, DDS, was elected president of the Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation at its biannual meeting held in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Dorn, who is chair of the Department of Endodontics, is the first person from the United States to hold the position.

Throughout his two-year appointment, Dorn will work with the confederation’s members to promote education that advances the field of endodontics across its diverse landscapes. Scientific meetings and courses are held in many countries with support of local societies and associations. The events provide an opportunity for specialists and general dental practitioners to learn and exchange ideas that improve patient health.

The Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation strives for excellence in patient care, research and education in the Asia-Pacific region.

Dorn, who lectures nationally and internationally, previously served as president of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations, American Association of Endodontists and Florida Association of Endodontists. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and Fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. He has received numerous awards including the 2013 Coolidge Award for lifetime achievement, the highest award presented by the American Association of Endodontists.
