WVU Health System to require COVID-19 vaccine by Oct. 31 for those working in patient care

Today, the West Virginia Hospital Association announced that it supports hospitals and health systems requiring COVID-19 vaccination of their employees with local factors and circumstances shaping how and when their policies are implemented. Following that announcement and the FDA’s approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, the West Virginia University Health System announced today that it will require all of its employees to be fully vaccinated with both doses of the two-dose series by Oct. 31, 2021.

Those on the Health Sciences Campuses involved in patient care, including residents, fellows and students, are required to follow WVU Health System policies, including those related to COVID-19, such as masks, PPE and vaccinations. Additional information about how and where to receive the COVID-19 vaccination will be communicated as soon as those details are available.
