WVU Medicine offers COVID-19 community vaccine clinic

WVU Medicine annouced today (Jan. 19) that it will open a community-based COVID-19 vaccine clinic in the old Sears building at the Morgantown Mall (9520 Mall Road). The clinic will open on Thursday and Friday (Jan. 21-22), and vaccinations will be given to West Virginia residents from the Morgantown area who are age 70 and older.

WVU Medicine had a very limited number of vaccines to offer the general public, so communication was limited to ensure the clinic could appropriately manage community expectations.

The plan is to scale up the clinic as quickly as possible to be able to provide 4,000 vaccines a day once the vaccine becomes more widely available and direction is received from the state. At that point, WVU Medicine will expand distribution to other age and priority groups.

In the meantime, people can visit wvumedicine.org/vaccine to sign up to be notified when more vaccine becomes available or when they meet the state criteria. (Individuals can also self-schedule on that site when more vaccine becomes available.) WVU Medicine has also established a phone number – 833-795-SHOT (833-795-7468) – that people can call to schedule appointments. However, they can only do so when the vaccine is available.
