Pre-doctoral Academic Affairs
The Office of Pre-Doctoral Academic Affairs is responsible for curriculum development and management, academic and professional standard reviews, strategic planning and formative and summative assessment of competency across the pre-doctoral degree program. The office is the central resource for the school’s accreditation process and provides curricular oversight to approximately 200 doctor of dental surgery students each year. The associate dean of pre-doctoral affairs, with a modest administrative team, is responsible for creating, monitoring and modifying a strong curriculum that provides didactic lecturing, modern approaches used in oral health care and technological advancement education for the best possible patient outcomes. The office is responsible for student advising from the start of the program through graduation. Other duties include organizing and conducting faculty development and student enrichment seminars and workshops.
Post-Doctoral Academic Affairs
The Office of Post-Doctoral Academic Affairs and its associate dean provide curricular oversight and management of graduate studies in endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, general practice dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery and pediatric dentistry that will accept its first students in July 2024. The associate dean of post-doctoral affairs, while responsible for the outcomes of all post-doctoral programs, pulls double duty as the chair of the pediatric dentistry department. The post-doctoral academic affairs office is responsible for student advising from the start of the program through graduation. The position coordinates faculty development and prepares documentation for all new academic programs for the university and accreditation bodies while managing thesis education and process for post-doctoral students.
