Dear fellow alumni and friends of the School of Dentistry,
We are excited to share that we recently received a $5 million supplemental appropriation from the state of West Virginia to support the modernization of our main student clinic and academic program. This was a team effort by our university and state leadership. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Governor, West Virginia Legislature, President Benson, Chancellor Marsh and the West Virginia Dental Association for their incredibly strong support of our University, WVU Health Sciences and our School of Dentistry.
This supplemental state appropriation, when combined with the Congressionally Directed Spending appropriations of $12.6 million for Phase One and $15 million for Phase Two renovations championed by Senator Capito, supports a generational transformation for our School of Dentistry and healthcare for the people of West Virginia.
On Tuesday, March 25, West Virginia University will hold its ninth Day of Giving. You can make a difference at our School of Dentistry in your area of interest. Your support of student scholarships, faculty recruitment, and continuing our facilities and technology modernization will help advance our mission to improve oral healthcare across West Virginia.
Our vision remains steadfast — we strive to be the dental school of choice for students, faculty, staff and patients. By developing an environment that fosters excellence in oral healthcare education and patient care, we will make a difference. When you make a gift — no matter the size or the fund — you make an immediate impact for our School and those entrusted to our care. Together, we will improve education and oral health one student and one patient at a time.
Early next month, we will welcome our Leadership Council for our semi-annual onsite meeting. The council is chaired by Dr. Travis Wills and is made up of business and community leaders who provide collaborative counsel with our executive leadership team to look at operations and functions at our School.
Thank you for all you do for our School and especially for our students and those entrusted to our care.
Lead well at every engagement. Glad to be here. Let’s go!
