The WVU School of Dentistry offers a number of postdoctoral opportunities including residencies in three specialty areas.

Overview

General Practice, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric Dentistry residencies are offered to D.D.S. graduates who want more in depth instruction in those areas of oral healthcare. Our residency programs are also knows as postdoctoral programs. Dentists who complete our residency programs spend at least a year learning how to care for the most challenging cases in their field.

The program places emphasis on patient care in a variety of settings on both a comprehensive and emergency basis. It encompasses and utilizes faculty and staff from all recognized dental specialties.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

The program is designed to enhance the resident's technical skills and knowledge in oral surgery. We provide instruction on diagnostic, consultative and treatment services to treat the patients of WV.

Pediatric Dentistry

The program prepares residents with in-depth knowledge and skills for all aspects of pediatric dentistry practice in both private and hospital settings and encourages lifelong learning to contribute to the advancement of the profession.
